NOTE: Most doctors do not recommend home folk remedies for genital warts, and this page does not address 'questionable' practices. However we do provide some general advice. Use all information here with caution. Also understand there is no current cure for the genital warts virus, but there are ways to prevent the duration and severity of outbreaks as well as ways to temporarily relieve associated discomfort.

Managing the frequency & severity of outbreaks.

Managing the frequency and severity of outbreaks.
The following are simple lifestyle changes that may affect long-term management of genital warts:

A) Frequency and severity of genital wart outbreaks can be minimized if you take care of the 3 basic keys to better health- good sleep, stress management & regular exercise:

1) Just get good, consistent sleep. Your mind and body just perform better and they can more effectively fight off outbreaks when you are well rested. Short daytime naps are also beneficial.

2) Stress is a surefire way to trigger any type of outbreak. Take any steps to minimize troubles in your life.

3) Finally get good regular exercise, preferably each day but at least 15-30 minutes 3X a week. Being stagnant or sedentary is not a good outbreak preventative measure.

B) The types of food you consume and your eating habits also play an important role. Here are some guidelines:

1) Eat a well balanced and healthy diet.

2) Don't skip meals and try to eat around the same times each day.

3) Don't eat too late in the day.

4) Over a period of time, genital wart outbreaks may be reduced by consuming more tomatoes, cabbage, brussel sprouts, radish, squash, spinach, mango, broccoli and cranberries.

Some tips to better handle an outbreak.

When a genital wart outbreak occurs
, keep the following tips in mind:

A) Find ways to prevent moisture since it can worsen symptoms. When outbreaks do occur, use a hair dryer or heat lamp to dry moist areas. If you use a dryer, consider using a dryer that also blows cool air. If you use a heat lamp, use common sense and not place it too near your affected area, which could result in a painful burn. In addition, wear underwear that can easily absorb any resulting moisture. Also make sure the underwear fits more loosely than normal.

B) To temporarily relieve genital wart discomfort fill an empty plastic water bottle with warm or slightly hot water and apply directly to the affected area. Throw away or thoroughly wash the bottle after each use (do not reuse for any other purpose). Repeat throughout the day as necessary.

Using supplements to help prevent outbreaks.

You will want to add immune boosting vitamins along with a good diet regimen (see above). Stronger immune functioning means you will endure fewer genital wart outbreaks. Take into considerations these supplements:

A) Severity, duration & frequency of genital warts can be minimized by taking the amino-acid L-Lysine daily.

B) During an outbreak, liquid (or cream) vitamin-E & liquid vitamin-A can both soothe when applied topically. A topical cream version of these two also may work.

C) Take a good all-in-one immune boosting supplement daily. A strong immune system helps prevent outbreaks. In addition, adding any of the following vitamins will boost your immune system performance: Vitamins A, C, E, B-Complex, zinc and lactobacillus acidophilus.

 What about natural herbal remedies?

Natural herbal remedies have shown great promise for treating genital warts. Here are some herbal remedies to keep in mind:

A) For soothing relief, the clear gel from a broken aloe vera plant leaf can be directly applied (you can also use a prepared aloe vera gel).

B) Tea tree oil can also be applied topically, covered, then left on overnight & removed in the morning, and repeated each night until the wart disappears.

C) Garlic supplements may also provide some relief when taken during an outbreak.

D) Taking extra cat's claw extract at the first sign of outbreak (and continuing for its duration) may help speed healing of genital warts.

E) In addition, consuming astragalus can help boost your immune system.

F) Other treatment methods include using lemon balm extract (when applied topically in liquid, gel or cream form). Liquid echinacea extract can also be applied topically at first sign of outbreak & continued for the duration.

Finally, do the ethically correct thing.

Always let your partner know you have genital warts before sex occurs.
In addition, you should use a
condom when performing any type of sex, especially during an outbreak. However keep in mind that condoms are known to fail occasionally and refraining from sex altogether during an outbreak is recommended. Knowing you have genital warts and still performing unprotected sex is just downright wrong.
