Take a good look at your eating habits and the foods
& drinks you consume. Flatulence prevention is
the key. Follow these guidelines to reduce occurrence of intestinal
gas:
A) Keep a notebook or daily journal keeping track
of specific foods you eat and note which meals (foods) tend to
result in intestinal gas. After a few weeks you'll start to notice
which foods more consistently trigger flatulence. If the meal in
question combines several foods, try an elimination diet eliminating
one part of the meal until you 'zero in' on the guilty culprit.
Reduce or eliminate guilty foods as required.
B) If you're not sure find out if you are lactose
intolerant. People who may have problems digesting milk or other
dairy products, may also suffer from excess intestinal gas.
C) Be kind to your stomach when you eat. Don't lie
on your side, on your stomach or even worse, on your back. Not only
can this create a choking hazard, but your stomach probably is not
digesting your foods naturally. Try to get into the habit of eating
while sitting down, at the table. Eat more slowly and chew your food
more thoroughly. Not only will this help prevent another odorous
problem, halitosis, but your stomach will absorb and digest food
much easier, helping prevent flatulence.
D) Reduce foods well known for creating flatulence
- these include the famous beans, onions, peppers and garlic. Eat
more pumpkins - in any form.
E) Consider reducing intake of high-fiber foods.
These foods are too numerous to mention here. There are many
resources on the internet to find such a list.

herbal remedies.

drinking more herbal teas or taking herbal supplements. Here
are some suggestions:
A)Grapefruit
seed extract may help occasional bouts with flatulence (take
when needed).
D) Another natural herbal solution is
to take
caraway seeds, or eat caraway seed crackers. They'll help
rid you of your gas.

When gas strikes, it's your body's way of telling you something.
Feel better by observing the following:
A)
Wear
looser clothing. Not only will you feel better with less pain, but
you may reduce unwanted flatulence. Think of your abdomen as a
balloon, squeeze it less and there is less compression.
B)
Deficate if you can.
Holding your stool in
may prolong the frequency, intensity & smell of your flatulence.
When you first feel it's time to go, GO. You'll feel better
regardless.
C)
Just find any way to relax. Stress does the body no
good and an irritated body frequently includes a tightly wound
abdomen. This can cause painful gas pains and an increase in
flatulence.
Making
mental & lifestyle adjustments.
All of the following can help reduce episodes of flatulence:
A)
Stop being sedentary - get up and
move your body around. Not only is being
'still' just plain unhealthy, but it
also contributes to breaking wind more often. There are many
simple effective exercises you can adopt such as walking, swimming or riding a
bike. Try to exercise every day for at least 15+ minutes.
B)
Just try to stop thinking about it.
For example, have you ever felt a need to urinate, and the more you thought
about it, the more you had to go? How about yawning - when someone
else yawns it seems to make you want to yawn. Well it's said that
the more you think about your flatulence, the more you feel the need
to 'break wind.' Therefore, do whatever it takes to get your mind off your
intestinal gas - use your imagination and do something fun. Soon you may
find yourself feeling better without even realizing it.
C)
Consider investing in a home
colon cleanse system.
These products usually provide
everything you need to work in just weeks, but may also require
adjustments in diet (see instructions). Having cleaner pipes (bowels) may not reduce
frequency of gas, however it may reduce odor and help your digestion
work better overall.

I
let one go ... oops, someone's coming! ... now what?
If lingering smell is a nagging
issue and there are people around or approaching, take steps to reduce the odor. Stagnant
environments are deadly (not literally of course) when it comes to
flatulence smell. Get the air moving by opening windows or using a fan. If
either is not an option, keep an odor eliminating air spray handy or keep
matches nearby. Lighting a match is an inexpensive remedy and has amazing
flatulence odor-killing capabilities.
Are
you born with gas?
Find out if it's in your
jeans - oops, I mean if it's in your genes. Flatulence is hereditary and
runs in families. This of course may mean that your situation is harder to fix
but there is one advantage - If it's not too uncomfortable, you can ask family members about their
situation and what works for them.
Final
thought ...
People with IBS
(Irritable bowel syndrome) tend to have more flatulence. If you know or
suspect that you have IBS, get this problem fixed first.
